A De Soto man was injured in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning (Nov. 6) on Hwy. 77 at the I-55 overpass near Benton south of Scott City in Scott County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Jimmy Morlan, 75, of De Soto was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Colorado pickup west on Hwy. 77 at 9:45 a.m. when he pulled into the path of an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet Camaro driven by a 16-year-old girl from Benton.
The report mentioned that 15 feet of guard rail maintained by the state was damaged in the accident.
Morlan suffered moderate injuries and he was taken by emergency services to St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
An update on his condition was not available.
The report made no mention of an injury to the girl.
The Highway Patrol does not release the names of juveniles involved in traffic accidents.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the report said; both vehicles had extensive damage.
