Woman allegedly stole AT&T wire, found with drugs in Jefferson County

Sarah Graham

A woman was recently arrested after being charged for allegedly stealing AT&T wire in Barnhart and possessing methamphetamine, according to court documents.

Sarah Graham, 37, of Edwardsville, Ill., was booked on Jan. 29 at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro. She was being held as of Monday, Feb. 2, on a $5,000 bond, jail records said.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in May 2025 charged Graham with felony stealing and felony possession of a controlled substance, court records said.

According to a probable-cause statement filed by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Graham on Jan. 21, 2025, was riding in a 2005 Ford F-150 that stopped near the intersection of Metropolitan Boulevard and Stahl Road in Barnhart after a dog vomited in the pickup’s rear passenger compartment.

Graham allegedly picked up about 125 feet of AT&T wire that was near the intersection and placed the wire under a blue tarp in the pickup’s bed, the report said.

A deputy responded to the intersection after being contacted about a stealing in progress. When he arrived, he arrested Graham and allegedly found she had a bag with a white crystal-like substance inside on a key chain that was attached to her belt loop. When the deputy searched the pickup, he allegedly found a smoking pipe with white-and-black residue on top of a purse, according to the report.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported in May 2025 that the crystal-like substance and residue on the pipe tested positive as meth, the report said.
