Verlon Govro
Verlon Govro, 91, of Festus joined the Army in 1949 at 19 years of age, serving in the Korean War until 1952. “He was wounded in 1951 and was awarded the Purple Heart,” said his daughter, Margaret Jones. “In 1953, he married the love of his life, Lorraine Smith, and they had five children.”
