The crash came about 7:30 on a Wednesday evening, two weeks ago. Police say a fleeing driver blew through a red light at Conley Rd. and Brickton Rd. in the Broadway Shopping Center on Columbia’s east side, slammed into pickup, flipping it on its side. A passenger told officers he begged the driver to stop and did not feel free to get out. The passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver fled on foot, tried to steal another car, and ran again as officers closed in. He was apprehended in the parking lot of nearby Slim Chickens.
