Wayne Whittley, 84, of De Soto died Oct. 21, 2021, in De Soto. Mr. Whittley was retired from General Motors. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 2250. Born July 17, 1937, in Stockford, he was the son of Kathryn (Jordan) and Elmer Whittley.
He is survived by his wife: Evelyn (Wisdom) Whittley, whom he married Oct. 13, 1956; four children: Karen (Jim) Stringer, Kathy (Joe) Oliver and David Wayne Whittley, all of De Soto, and Thomas Scott (Connie) Whittley of Hillsboro; seven siblings: Roy Whittley of Advance, Millidean Wallace of Hillsboro, Betty Lou Meyers of Fruitland, Emma Mae Lyons of Labadie, Gerald Whittley of Essex, Bonnie Sue Klinner of Stanton and Delmar Whittley of Union; 12 siblings: Shelby Cox, Richard McCane, Jeffrey James Wayne Stringer, Blake Whittley, Wayne Whittley, Torie Orton, Seth Colby Oliver, Joshua Oliver, Devin Wayne Whittley, Brittney Whittley, Desiree Whittley and Skyler Whittley; 22 great-grandchildren: Kasondra, Daniel, Nishea, Taylor, Claire, Patrick, Liam, Everly, Jude, Sasha, Alexandra, Lillie, Parker, Connor, Hailey, Nora, Colby Weston, Olivia Lila Michael, Bella, Isaiah, Ezra and Avi; and four great-great-grandchildren: Jenna, Clayton, Bennet Fischer and Zavaea.
He was preceded in death by a son: Dwayne Whittley; and a sister: Audrey Burns.
Services were held Oct. 24 at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Ron Duncan. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the De Soto City Kennel, 1306 Public Works Drive, De Soto 63020. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
