Denter, Ward

Ward S. “Turk” Denter III, 73, of Hillsboro died April 21, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Denter was a retired computer programmer with the Department of Defense and a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Born May 11, 1944, in Bridgeport, Conn., he was the son of the late Dorothy “Dottie” and Ward S. Denter II.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of nearly 37 years: Gen Severson; two daughters Michelle “MJ” Denter and Debbie (Jesse) Denter Menley, both of Hillsboro; a son: Jamie Denter of Hillsboro; a grandson: Ethan Denter; his former wife and the mother of his children: Donna (Bob) Berger of Hillsboro; a brother: Jim “Squirrel” (Goldie) Denter of Evergreen, Colo.; a sister: Sandy Kovalsky of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother-in-law: Doug McQuarters of Apopka, Fla.; his three “best buds:” Phil Colwell of Herculaneum, Bob Speck of Hillsboro and Roger Casey of De Soto; and many other friends.

He was preceded in death by a son: Ward S. Denter IV; and a sister: LynnDee McQuarters.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs. Arrangements were under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
