House Springs man allegedly assaults woman

Michael Salters

Michael David Salters, 51, of House Springs allegedly choked a woman after shoving rocks and a phone to her mouth. The two were in a previous romantic relationship, according to court documents.

Salters has been charged with first-degree domestic assault, a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison, court records show.

As of Oct. 10, he was being held at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro. The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has requested his bond to be set at $15,000, court documents said.

Salters on Sept. 28 allegedly knocked the woman down in the 8200 block of Sunset Strip in House Springs. He then put one of his arms around the woman’s neck and pulled the back of her hair, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.

Salters then allegedly smashed rocks and the woman’s phone into her face while saying “eat rocks” and “eat the phone.” The woman told investigators that Salters said she was “going to die today” before he left with her phone, the report said.

The woman told investigators she could not breathe while Salters had his arm around her neck, according to the report.
