McDowell, Walter

Walter Monroe McDowell, 94, of Branson died July 22, 2020, in Branson. Mr. McDowell worked as a press operator for Alvie Manufacture until his retirement. He was a member of Radiant Life Church in Festus and enjoyed fishing, hunting, going on vacations and spending time with his family. Born June 29, 1926, in River Mines, he was the son of the late Clara Blanche (Hawthorne) and James Monroe McDowell. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Mary Beatrice McDowell; and his second wife: Pauline McDowell.

He is survived by four sons: Marvin (Pat) McDowell of Hillsboro, John (Carolyn) McDowell of De Soto, Donny (Stacie) McDowell of Bonne Terre and Charles Wayne (Lynn) Street of Piedmont; five daughters: Mary McDowell of De Soto, Loretta (Ron) Thompson of De Soto,  Sharon McCauley of Rockaway Beach, Brenda Street of Branson and Linda Sue (Stan) Johnson of Festus; two brothers: Harold McDowell of Georgia and Eugene (Midge) McDowell of Fredericktown; a sister: Blanche Wilson of Farmington; 18 grandchildren; 47great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Darrell McDowell and Baby Joel McDowell; and six sisters: Elizabeth McDowell, Ethel Burbaugh, Alberta Lee, Grace Pulliam, Violet Masek and Glenda McDowell.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Radiant Life Church in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at the church, officiated by the Rev. Randy Gray. Burial will follow in the Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Silva. Memorials may be made to Radiant Life Church, 11533 Gamel Cemetery Road, Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
