Velma Jean Carlin, 76, of De Soto died April 3, 2015, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Ms. Carlin was a hairdresser. Born July 6, 1938, in Prescott, Ark., she was the daughter of Gladys Gerene (Dickerson) Davis of De Soto and the late Silas Paul Davis.
She is survived by two children: Carla Carlin of St. Louis and Tony (Christine) Carlin of St. Louis; two siblings: Roger Dale (Margaret) Davis of Ware and Donald Ray Davis of Potosi; four grandchildren: Derrick, Cody, Brent and Beth; and one great-grandchild: Lacey Carlin.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: John Wayne Davis, William Charles Davis, Paul Davis and James Davis; a sister: Norma Jean Davis; and a great-grandchild: Bentley Carlin.
Memorial visitation is at 4 p.m. and a memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Randy Casey. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
