Thomas Ray Hughes, 67, of Hillsboro died Sept. 24, 2021, in Festus. Mr. Hughes enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with family. Born Nov. 10, 1953, in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of the late Raymond and Mildred (Jones) Hughes.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Lou (Sanders) Hughes; four children: Thomas Hughes, Jeff (Krista) Hughes, Wendy (Jay) Blass and Amanda (Ben) Lamkins; 15 grandchildren: Kolleen, Kelsey, Kirsten, Little Tommy, Jeffery, Linley, Mya, Lily, Jake, Beau, Kage, Mya, Dakota, Jada and Alia; three great-grandchildren: Travis, Gavin and Olivia; five siblings: Rusty, Cathy, Millie, Mary and Alice; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Shirley Ann; a brother: Dennis; and a nephew: Raymond (the late Denise).
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at the funeral home. Burial is in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
