Ted Franklin Strauser

Ted Franklin Strauser, 86, of Cedar Hill died Jan. 1, 2018, at his home. Mr. Strauser was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Cedar Hill. He worked as a Union carpenter before founding Gravois Truss Company, which he owned and operated until he retired. He loved to fish with his sons, play cards and games, and spend time with his family. Born May 28, 1931, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., he was the son of the late Lytha Lou (Sloan) and Thomas F. Strauser.

He is survived by seven children: Denny (Blanche) Strauser of Cedar Hill, Bud (Angie) Strauser of Cedar Hill, Debbie (Steve) Dunagan of Fenton, Janet “Necie” (Keith) Tramel of Cedar Hill, Mary (Rick) Williams of High Ridge, Danny (Renee) Strauser of House Springs and Mike (Wendi) Strauser of Dittmer; 14 grandchildren: Buddy (Shannon), Ben (Casi), Chad (Jane), Derick (Melissa), Jake (Christina), Brent (Chelsey), Zack, Daniel, Emily (Richie), Katy (Craig), Mike, Cassie, Caitlin and Sam, 11 great-grandchildren: Natalie, Elizabeth, Bentley, Hunter, Lexi, Brody, Ty, Chase, Cole, Brooke and Lainey; and a nephew: Stanley White.

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years: Dorothy F. Strauser; two sisters: Juanita and Mary; and a grandson: Ryan.

Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Jay B. Smith Funeral Home, 777 Oakwood Dr., in Fenton. A 1 p.m. service will follow the visitation. Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, 1465 South Grand Blvd., St. Louis 63014-1095. Arrangements are under the direction of Jay B. Smith Funeral Home.
