Shirley Waggoner, 97, of Festus died Sept. 4, 2020, in Festus. Mrs. Waggoner was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Festus. She enjoyed Bible study and sewing and was an excellent cook, especially known for her pecan pie. She was born March 3, 1923, in Tekemah, Neb., the daughter of the late Bertha Mazie (Masters) and Walter Palmer. She was preceded in death by her husband: Glenn Thomas Waggoner Sr.
She is survived by five children: Glenn (Martha) Waggoner Jr. of Festus, Gerald (Nancy) Waggoner of Hillsboro, Lawrence (Terry) Waggoner of Allegany, Ore., Richard Waggoner of St Louis and Walter Palmer of Lake St Louis; a sister-in-law: Jeanette Waggoner of Elsberry; 12 grandchildren; 41great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Reisa Kay Waggoner; a brother: Charles Palmer; and a sister: Iva Palmer-Phelps.
Funeral services were held Sept. 15 at Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus. Burial was in the Elsberry City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to My Place Residential Care, 23 N. Sixth St., Festus, 63028. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
