Shirley Jean Brown, 80, of Crystal City died Jan. 23, 2017, in Crystal City. Mrs. Brown was a licensed practical nurse and surgical technician at Mercy Hospital Jefferson. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, the Douglass Alumni Association and the Surgical Technology Association. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren. Born July 28, 1936, in Crystal City, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Fannie (McLendon) Mosby.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years: Sidney L. Brown; two daughters: Valerie (Willie) Brown-Taylor of Spartanburg, S.C., and Audrey C. (Marvin) Mitchell of Festus; three grandchildren: Cyd Brown, Kayla Crawford and Adrianne Kelly; four great-grandchildren: Jailyn Duke, Destiny Kelly, Daylon Kelly and Ty Juan Norfleet; and a sister: Phyllis Cook of Festus.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 4, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., Festus, followed immediately by funeral services officiated by Pastor Charles Culton. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9374 Olive Blvd., Suite 101, St. Louis, MO 63132. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
