Brown, Dale

Shelva “Dale” Brown, 82, of Festus died Jan. 4, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired maintenance mechanic, having worked for the River Cement Corporation for 34 years, and was a member of Boilermakers Union Local 455. He was a former Little League baseball coach, and enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball and spending time with family. Born Dec. 15, 1938, in Fisk, he was the son of the late Curtis Leroy Rogers and Ella Mae Strecker.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years: Magnolia “Maggie” (Ford) Brown; two sons: Matt (Molly) Brown of Belleville, Ill., and Anthony (Michelle) Brown of Festus; a daughter: Karla (Rich) Mason of Festus; a sister: Karen (Jim) Waynick of Festus; eight grandchildren: Aidan Brown, Emma Brown, Ethan Brown, Maddie (fiancé Sam) Brown, Savannah Brown, Lorellei Brown, Conner (Priscilla) Mason and Alec Mason; a great-grandson: Nathaniel Mason; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charlie and Fannie Brown; a sister: Deborah Strecker; and a grandson: Corey Mason.

Funeral services were private. Burial with full military honors was in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
