Blake, Janette

Ruby “Janette” Blake, 84, of De Soto died June 19, 2014, in Crystal City. Mrs. Blake was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 417 in Festus and was a foster parent for 33 years. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Born Oct. 30, 1929, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late August E. and Mary Elizabeth (Womack) Muehleman. She was preceded in death by her husband: Joe Blake.

She is survived by two children: Janet E. (Alvin) Brown of Bonne Terre and Robert L. (Cathy) Blake of Bonne Terre; two foster children: Cherry Gaddy of Tennessee and Sherry M. McMullin of De Soto; five grandchildren: Tracy Becker, Robert Blake, Amy (Jason) Mooney, Allean (Mike) Horn and Paula Jo (Ted) Baumer; and nine great-grandchildren: Maddie, Austin, Brady, Cassie, Bryar, Sadie, Riley, Allison and Conner.

She was preceded in death by a son: Darrell Blake; a brother: August Muehleman Jr.; a sister: Ruth A. Doyle; and a grandchild, Lesley Brown.

Funeral services were held June 23 at Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. Paul Pope. Burial was in the Presbyterian Methodist Cemetery in Festus. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
