A Eureka Police officer was kicked in the face by a 33-year-old St. Clair woman after arresting her and a 28-year-old St. Louis man who were allegedly seen trying to get into cars at the McDonald’s restaurant, 5699 Fox Creek Road. The woman and man were both wanted on active warrants, police reported.
Employees called officers at about 11:40 p.m. June 1 because they saw man and woman trying to enter cars parked outside of the restaurant. None of the cars were entered and nothing was reported stolen.
Officers located the man and woman inside a tractor-trailer that was parked on the side of Six Flags Road near the McDonald’s. The driver of the tractor-trailer said he offered the two a ride, and the man and woman were asked to get out of the cab, according to the report.
The woman told officers they were trying to get into the cars because they were trying to find the car that belonged to the tractor-trailer driver who offered them a ride. She said they were trying to get to Mercy Hospital in Washington, the report said.
The man and woman provided false identification to officers. However, the officers were able to identify them and learned they both were wanted for probation violations, according to the report.
The officers then arrested the two.
The woman allegedly resisted arrest and had to be handcuffed after being taken to the ground. When she was placed in the cruiser, she put her foot in the door to keep it from closing, attempted to slip out of her handcuffs and when officers tried to put her legs in the cruiser, she kicked an officer in the face, the report said.
The man was arrested without incident, and the two were taken to the Police Station after the woman was secured in the cruiser, according to the report.
The two were booked and transported to St. Louis County Jail, the report said.
Eureka Police will seek a charge against the woman through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for resisting and interfering with an arrest, assaulting a police officer, failing to comply with a police officer and tampering with an automobile, Lt. Brett Grittini said.
