Jimmy Lynn Maxwell, 29, of Dittmer was allegedly found with methamphetamine following a traffic stop by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, according to court records.
On June 9, Maxwell was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested on June 11, and as of Monday, June 15, he was being held on a $25,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court and jail records show.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, a deputy stopped Maxwell on Jan. 13, and the deputy allegedly found a white crystal-like substance in Maxwell’s jean’s pocket. The deputy also found a scale in the vehicle.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tested the substance, and on April 21, the lab reported the substance tested positive as meth, the report said.
Maxwell is considered a persistent drug offender because he has been convicted of at least two prior felony charges. He was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance in July 2022, and he was found guilty again of possession of a controlled substance in March 2025, court documents said.
