Robert Eugene Payne, 74, of Barnhart died Nov. 21, 2017, in St. Louis. Mr. Payne was an assembly worker with General Motors. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. military and a member of American Legion Post 162. Born Aug. 7, 1943, in Ironton, he was the son of the late Jack and Goldie (Duree) Payne. He was preceded in death by his wife: Norma Jean Payne.
He is survived by a daughter: Tammy Payne of Barnhart; and a sister: Barbara Brady of Farmington. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Billy and Richard Payne; and a sister: Catherine Whitington.
A funeral service was held Nov. 28 at Kutis South County Chapel in St. Louis County, officiated by Mary Ann Lawrence. Burial was in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements were under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
