Radford Reuben “Ben” Raines Jr., 70, of Crystal City died Aug. 27, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield. Mr. Raines was a financial analyst for Arch Coal Inc. in Creve Coeur and a member of First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City. Born Aug. 31, 1944, in Kennett, he was the son of the late Nancy Lou (Baker) and Radford Reuben Raines Sr. He is survived by his wife: Karen Lynn (Ward) Raines; two sons: Radford Reuben “Skip” (Stephanie) Raines III of O’Fallon and Jeff (Pam) Raines of St. Peters; a daughter: Andrea (Gary) Griffith of Dardenne Prairie; his mother-in-law: Aileen (the late Compton) Ward of Crystal City; 10 grandchildren: Elizabeth “Libby” Raines, Abby Benz, Ally Benz, Analise Benz, Alayna Benz, Ethan Griffith, Emily Griffith, Chloe Griffith, Calie Griffith and Ben Raines; and a sister: Becky (Eddie) Shepard of Ft. Smith, Ark.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Elizabeth (the late Don) Ross.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City, 107 N. Truman, in Crystal City, officiated by Dr. Charles McLain. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
