Paul Eugene “Gene” Partney, 80, of Herculaneum died June 17, 2020, at his home. Mr. Partney was an accomplished carpenter and served as Jefferson County building inspector for more than 30 years. Born March 26, 1940, in Festus, he was the son of the late Davita (Mercil) and Evert Partney. He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Ellen (Baker) Partney.
He is survived by a son: David Partney of Herculaneum; a daughter: Tracy (Steve) Frey of Pevely; special friend Sandy Willis; two sisters: Doris Carlin of Hillsboro and Darla Gardner of De Soto; two brothers: Don (Sherri) Partney of Union and Jim Partney of Pevely; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Kenny) Braun, Kyle (Julie) Brown, Shannon Brown, Lindsey (Ed) Beckemier, Nick Morton, Ryan Partney, Megan Partney, Melanie Partney and Tyler (Jenna) Partney; 11 great-grandchildren: Haylee, Leighton, Caitlyn, Kylie, Brayden, Justus, Jersey, Lawson, Jackson, Gunner and James; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: Michael (Linda survives of Crystal City) Partney; a daughter: Holly Vandiver; and a brother: Johnny (Linda survives of Bonne Terre) Partney.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 22, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City, officiated by Brother James Perry. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
