Melva Elaine Bruhn, 91, of Festus died Aug. 24, 2023, at her home. Mrs. Bruhn was an animal lover, especially cats, dogs, horses, deer and hummingbirds. She is remembered as a kind and generous person who enjoyed spending time with her family and her pets, Ginger the dog and Callie the cat. She was born Oct. 10, 1931, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Melva Mary (Kountzman) and Paul Henry Giudicy. She was preceded in death by her husband: Arthur Ray Bruhn.
She is survived by three daughters: Leila (Craig) Knarr of Fenton, Linda (Scott) Chapman of Festus and Anita (Michael) Jones of Hillsboro; four grandchildren: Danielle Huskey, Hannah Chapman, Katie Chapman and Geoffrey (Christine) Jones; and six great-grandchildren: Lacee Huskey, Lanie Huskey, Kinley Huskey, Alexandria Jones, Auggie Jones and Avery Jones.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Saturday, Sept. 2, Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Dave Fluegge. Burial is in the Charter Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to Fourche Valley Rescue in Bloomsdale, to the Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs or to the Humane Society of Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
