Virginia Mae “Jenny” Boyer, 91, of Festus died July 2, 2024, at her home. Born Aug. 4, 1932, in Potosi, Mrs. Boyer was the daughter of the late Nelia Marie (Coleman) and Elmer Claude Elliott.
She was preceded in death by her husband: James Boyer.
She is survived by five children: Rick Elliott of De Soto, Tim (Lisa) Shoemaker of De Soto, Tami (Brett) Bins of Crystal City, Keith (Darlene) Elliott of De Soto and Karen Adams of De Soto; six grandchildren: Adam, David, Sarah D., Sarah E., Kaitlyn and Matthew; six great-grandchildren: Rylnn, Liliana, Weston, Lukas, John and Summit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by an infant son: Jesse Shoemaker; five siblings: Donald Elliott, Margaret Norton, Helen Rose Thomure, Catherine Friedmeyer and Frankie (Sheri survives of Crystal City) Elliott; and a great-grandson: Logan.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus. A celebration of life is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Monday, July 22, behind the pavilion at the Festus-Crystal City Elks Lodge, 4 Elks Club. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
