Theiss, Virgil

Virgil Henry Theiss, 90, of Imperial died Nov. 12, 2024. Mr. Theiss was an accomplished and retired butcher from Schnucks and Union Local 88. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, barbecuing, cooking, splitting wood, making sausage and spending time with and playing Farkel with his family. Born April 18, 1934, he was the son of the late Theodore and Agnes (Vonder Haar) Theiss.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Dolores (Lammert) Theiss.

He is survived by three children: Vincent Theiss, Vernon (Gennady Smirnov) Theiss and Theresa Burkart; two grandchildren: Nathan (Catherine) Burkart and Ryan Burkart; three great-grandchildren: Vivyanne, Sadie and Theodore; two brothers: Robert Theiss and Donald Theiss; four sisters: Jeanette Trenary, Mary Ann Luaders, Dolores Luaders and Rosemary Black; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Richard Theiss and Joseph Theiss.

Visitation is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at St. John the Beloved Disciple Catholic Church, 4614 Blue Springs Drive, in Imperial. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home in Arnold.
