Vera C. “Pat” Kirn, 98, of Festus, formerly of De Soto, died May 2, 2026, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Kirn was a homemaker, proprietor of the Little Pink Store and retired as a bank teller at Joachim Savings and Loan in 1992. She and her husband spent many retirement years traveling the states, including Alaska, and enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Born Aug. 23, 1927, in Perryville, she was the daughter of the late Louis A. and Mary C. (Huber) Miget.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Francis “Gene” Kirn, whom she married on Dec. 31, 1949, at Church of the Assumption in Perryville.
She is survived by two children: Michael (Constance Schmidt) Kirn of St. Louis and Scott (Claudia) Kirn of De Soto; four grandsons: August (Sarah) Kirn, Seth Kirn, Zachary (Brandy) Kirn and Thomas (Shannon Stephenson) Kirn; and great-grandchildren: Ian Colin, Isabelle, Sophia, Ari and Owen Kirn.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers: the Rev. Robert H. Miget, C.M., Lenn C. (Marie) Miget, Weldon E. (Mildred) Miget and Stephen P. (Marcella) Miget; and five sisters: Mabel (Dan) Berkbigler, Elta (Paul) Berkbigler, Eula (Walter Billy) Smith, Zella (Virgil) Green and Virginia (Elva Junior) Harris.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a memorial Mass at noon Saturday, May 9, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto, 63020, officiated by Father Rodger Fleming. Memorials may be made to the St. Rose School Success Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
