Ruth Inez (Hampton) Cossey, 96, of Hillsboro died Sept. 8, 2024. Mrs. Cossey was an avid gardener and loved making jellies for her family. She loved her family deeply. She attended Peace Tabernacle since 1980 and loved her church family. Born Dec. 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Esther and George Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Osvel Lloyd Cossey.
She is survived by three children: Sarah Cossey (Rev. Huey) Long, Charlotte Cossey (Rev. Calvin) Ray and Lloyd Allen (Dorothy) Cossey; eight grandchildren: Greg (Tammy) Long, Marty (Michelle) Long, Jeff (Sara) Ray, Jeremy (Stephanie) Ray, Candace Ray (Jason) Rushing, Matt Cossey, Tim (Angela) Cossey and Amiee Cossey (Luke) Rieger; a brother: James Donald Hampton; 26 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two children: Osvel Lloyd Cossey Jr. and Janet Ruth Cossey; and many brothers and sisters.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Peace Tabernacle, 11096 Hwy. 21, in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to Tupelo Children’s Mansion Ministries Inc. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
