Roesch, Raymond

Raymond J. Roesch, 90, of Festus died May 30, 2026, at Scenic Wellness and Rehab Center in Herculaneum. Mr. Roesch served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired machinist with 43 years of service at McDonnell Douglas and Boeing Aircraft. After retirement, he worked at Meier Motors as a mechanic, working on lawnmowers and was called “Mr. Lawn Mower Man” by the neighbors. He was a founding member of the Church of Our Lady in Festus, a member of the Knights of Columbus Our Lady Council 14402 and a member of the former Our Lady Young at Heart Club. He enjoyed traveling with family and friends, bowling, playing cards and practicing his faith. Born Oct. 9, 1935, in Kimmswick, he was the son of the late Helen (Gross) and Herbert Roesch. 

He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Judith Ann (Bahr) Roesch; two daughters: Teresa (Ricky) Govro of Festus and Lisa (Dave) Arnold of Festus; two sons: Kevin (Mary) Roesch of Geneva, Ill., and Donald Roesch of St. Louis; two sisters: Florence (the late Charles) Bley of Festus and Sandra (Duane) DeClue of Crystal City; a brother: Charles “Ronald” (Debra) Roesch of Madison, Ala.; seven grandchildren: Eric Govro, Kimberly (James) Harper, Anthony Roesch, Matthew Roesch, Ethan Roesch, Anne Roesch and Katherine Roesch; and three great-grandchildren: Lillian Harper, Isaiah Harper and Sawyer Roesch. 

He was preceded in death by three brothers: James (Mary Ann survives of Festus) Roesch, Earl (Patricia survives of Kimmswick) Roesch and Leroy Roesch. 

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. today, June 1, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane, in Festus, 63028, officiated by Father Zac Povis. Burial with full military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Church of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
