Raymond J. DeGonia, 91, of Imperial died Oct. 12, 2025, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Mr. DeGonia was an operating engineer and a member of Local Union 512 for 72 years. During his career, he worked as a derrick and crane operator at Davis Street Sand Co. until its closing. He enjoyed fishing, boating and target shooting as well as playing cards, particularly pitch and canasta, with his family. Born July 26, 1934, in Potosi, he was the son of the late Lucille C. (Lachance) and Joseph F. DeGonia.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Violet (Witt) DeGonia.
He is survived by a daughter: Teresa Butler (Robert) Pfaff; a son: Robert (Becky) DeGonia; a grandchild: Brett Butler; a sister: Laura (Leslie) Partney; nieces and nephews; and several other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter: Barbara (Jon) Eversmeyer; three sisters: Loretta (Martin) Barron, Barbara (Bill) Blaylock and Margaret (Milford) Vandergriff; and two brothers: George (Della) DeGonia and Gene (Charlene) DeGonia.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral Mass at noon Thursday, Oct. 23, at St. James Catholic Church, 201 N. Missouri St., in Potosi. Burial will follow in St. James Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore Funeral Home in Potosi.
