Patricia Ann “Patty” Denton, 67, of Crystal City died Oct. 7, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Denton was retired from the Crystal City School District where she was secretary to the superintendent. She was a member of Gracelife Chapel in Pevely and was also a member of the Scraps and Patches Quilters Guild of Festus and the Grace Way Quilt Guild of De Soto. Making and giving quilts was her personal ministry. She was a Christian, loved Jesus and was known for her generosity. She loved cooking, playing games and hosting family gatherings. Born Nov. 1, 1956, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Sarah “Marie” (Higgins) and Edward Francis “Polly” Burlage.
She is survived by her husband: David Denton; two daughters: Stephanie (Nathan) Cunningham of Festus and Erin (Chris) Bova of Crystal City; four grandchildren: Owen Cunningham, Payton Cunningham, Addison Bova and Avery Bova; four sisters: Donna (David) Floyd of Festus, Barbara (Gary) Thurby of Henderson, Ky., Betty (the late David) Holdinghausen of Villa Ridge and Fran (Robert) Naes of Imperial; a twin brother: Michael (Michelle) Burlage of Herculaneum; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. An additional visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Gracelife Chapel, 1 Victory Drive, in Pevely, officiated by Gracelife Associate Pastor Steve Williams. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery of Bismarck. Memorials may be made to Gracelife Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
