Pamla Ann Atkins, 77, of Pevely died May 10, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Atkins was a 1966 Herculaneum High School graduate and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia. She was a librarian, a day care and Sunday School teacher and a professional cook for the Hanford School District in Hanford, Calif., and the Fayette Senior Center in Fayette. She and her husband have also worked in dairy herd management in Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois, California and Missouri. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely and enjoyed bird watching, gardening, taking photographs, sewing, writing letters, raising goats and spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. Born Feb. 4, 1948, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Erna (Kraus) and Victor Martin.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Harry Wayne Atkins; two sons: Paul (Jessica) Atkins of Woodson Terrace and Henry Aaron (Deirdre Kelly) Atkins of Harrisburg; two daughters: Danora (Brian) Doe of Tulare, Calif., and Katina (James) Kraatz of St. Charles; two sisters: Jewell (Ed) Edwards and Nelda Martin; a brother: Steve (Patricia) Martin; five grandchildren: Christopher Doe, Michael Doe, J.B. Garcia, Paige Kraatz and Hayden Atkins; Hayden Atkins’ mother: Heather Atkins; six nieces and nephews: Edwin Edwards, Drew Martin, Richard Martin, Rachel Martin, Sherry (Steve) Coram and Amanda (Mike) Sapp; a sister-in-law: Donna Atkins; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by seven in-laws: Cora and Harry Atkins, Darlene (Atkins) Engle, Wesley Atkins, Christy (Atkins) Coffman, Nathan Engel and Jason Engel.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 17, at Zion Lutheran Church, 310 Central Ave., in Pevely, officiated by the Rev. Bryan Roberts. Burial will be in Antonia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
