Mary Ellen Kent, 92, of Festus died Nov. 9, 2024, at her daughter’s home in De Soto. Mrs. Kent is remembered for her strong Christian faith and her love for her family. Born Dec. 25, 1931, in Murphysboro, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Ruth (Gwenn) House.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years: Riley J. Kent.
She is survived by two daughters: Janet (Pat Fuller) Hobson of De Soto and Nancy (John) Anders of De Soto; six siblings; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sons: David (Darlene survives) Kent and Steven Kent; a daughter: Christine Lucas; two grandsons: Jeremiah Hobson and Jamie Weiss; and three siblings.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Pevely, officiated by Pastor Dwayne Womack. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
