Mary Elizabeth Bhat, 82, of Crystal City died June 6, 2026, at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis. Mrs. Bhat worked as a nurse from 1963 to 1971. She held multiple occupations after being widowed, including being an artist. She was a Christian and a member of Toastmasters and the Jefferson County Artists Guild. Born Sept. 14, 1943, in Jefferson City, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Thompson) Miller and Joel Edward Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 12 years: Janardhan Dayanada Bhat.
She is survived by three children: Kathleen Bhat of St. Charles, Susan (Don) Bhat of St. Louis and James (Gloria) Bhat of Wentzville; three grandchildren: Thomas (Haley) Yonke of St. Peters, Michael (Jordan) Bhat of Jefferson City and Hannah Bhat of Wentzville; a sibling: Joel T. “Tom” (Helda) Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister-in-law: Samyukta Sujir of Mumbai, India; and cousins: Dee Anselmo and Rebecca Anselmo of Chicago, Ill., Bill (Connie) Webb of St. Charles, Trisha Thompson of Jefferson City, Lorraine Thompson of Charleston, S.C., Michael (Betsy) Webb of St. Charles and Bill (Ronnie) Webb of Los Angeles, Calif.
A celebration of life is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1209 Crystal Heights Road in Crystal City.
