Marion Emma Filkins, 97, of De Soto died July 30, 2024, at Stonebridge Senior Living in De Soto. Mrs. Filkins retired from Boatman’s Bank. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of De Soto. She loved sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Born Sept. 13, 1926, in Blackwell, she was the daughter of the late Mary Josephine (Courtaway) and Henry B. Deering.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Lloyd W. Filkins Sr.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law: Brenda Filkins; a sibling: Virgie Armbruster; three grandsons: Ron (Deanna) Filkins, Chris (Shannon) Filkins and Paul (Jennifer) Filkins; nine great-grandchildren: David Filkins, Nathan Filkins, Paul Filkins, Amanda Filkins, Danyel Filkins, Drew Filkins, Derek Filkins, Dalayna Young and Dustin Rhodes; nine great-great-grandchildren: Jaden, Justin, Braylon, Jeremy, Easton, Hayden, Everett, Chaeserae and Breiliegh; and two special friends: Cathy and Tom Campbell.
She also was preceded in death by three sons: Lloyd W. Filkins Jr., Ronald M. Filkins and Gary W. Filkins; a sister: Eula Underwood; three brothers: Earl Deering, Buford Deering and Lyndell Deering.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today, Aug. 5, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of De Soto Building Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
