Louise Margaret Wehner, 97, of Herculaneum, formerly of Festus, died Dec. 22, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Wehner was a retired custodian from the Festus R-6 Schools and a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal City. She was an avid reader and loved eating chocolate, watching sports on television, cross-stitching and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born Oct. 29, 1927, in East St. Louis, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Wolfbrandt) and Walter Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years: Paul Joseph Wehner.
She is survived by three children: Michael (Darlene) Wehner of Festus, Donna (Ron) Schneider of Arnold and David (Pat) Wehner of Eureka; seven grandchildren: Jared (Amanda) Wehner, Jacob (Maria Blessing) Wehner, Caitlyn (Ascencion) Estrada, Kelly (Steve) Winkeler, Brett (Katie Melin) Schneider, Maggie (Keith) Chandler and Samantha Wehner; 14 great-grandchildren: Brinley Wehner, Easton Wehner, Kennedy Wehner, Byron Winkeler, Cora Winkeler, Logan Winkeler, Abby Chandler, Bryan Chandler, Clark Chandler, Danica Chandler, EJ Chandler, Mackinzey Lewis, Jessica Wehner and Jace Wehner.
She also was preceded in death by a brother: Andrew (the late Frances) Nicks.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. An additional visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 221 Brierton Lane, in Crystal City, officiated by Pastor Kyle Castens. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Daycare in Festus. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
