Brune, Lillian

Lillian A. (Sturm) Brune, 92, of Cedar Hill died Aug. 2, 2025. Mrs. Brune taught at several elementary schools before staying home to be a homemaker and mother. She later worked at Our Lady Queen of Peace School as a substitute teacher and secretary. After she retired, she volunteered for the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, serving various times as treasurer and president. She was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed music, musical theater, spent many hours embroidering and loved spending time with family. Born Aug. 31, 1932, in Jefferson City, she was the daughter of the late Gerhard and Hilda (Kramp) Sturm.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years: Raymond Brune.

She is survived by two children: David (Susan) Brune and Amy (Dane Caritoni) Brune; two grandchildren: Jacob and Kathryn; her unofficial adopted family: Jeff and Nissa Smith and their three children, Kane, Nathan and Jesse Smith; six siblings-in-law: Alma Sturm, Marie Kallial, Bernard Brune, Don (Marietta) Brune, Rita Henderson and Louise (Bernie) Oetjen; and numerous other family members and friends.

She also was preceded in death by two siblings: Helen Lu Sturm and Herbert Sturm; siblings-in-law: Thomas Kallial and Betty (Al) Grimm; and her close friend: Roseann Robinson.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 4696 Notre Dame Drive, in House Springs. Burial will immediately follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to the Peace Pantry in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
