Kathy Jean (Hografe) Shelton, 63, of Cedar Hill died Jan. 20, 2026, at her home. Mrs. Shelton enjoyed sewing, cooking and finding treasures for those she loved. Her favorite title was “Mawmaw,” and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was known for helping others, from family and friends to those she cared for as a nurse aide. She will be remembered for her loving heart. Born June 24, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marilyn Hografe.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years: John Craig Shelton; two sons: John Curtis (Megan) and Justin Shelton; five grandchildren: Will, Nyla, John Caleb, Waylon and Osborne (Ozzie) Shelton; three sisters: Becky Hografe, Debbie Hografe and Donna (Jeff) Romaine; a brother: Scott (Jen) Hografe; and her nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Dennis Hografe; and a nephew: Brandon Hografe.
A celebration of life is scheduled from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Club Villa, 8400 Villa Magnolia Road, in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
