Kathleen “Kathy” Sandler, 76, of Barnhart died Jan. 24, 2026, in Herculaneum. Born Nov. 16, 1949, in St. Louis, Mrs. Sandler was the daughter of the late Katherine (Weinhart) Bippen and Alvin Heimos. She was the stepdaughter of the late Elmer Bippen.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years: Keith Sandler.
She is survived by a child: Kelly (Kevin) Peters of Festus; three grandchildren: Madeline, Bailey and Carson Peters, all of Festus; siblings-in-law: Marcia Kowelman of St. Louis, Mark Kowelman (Trish McGuire) of St. Louis and Paul (Susan) Kowelman of St. Charles; nieces and nephews: Michael Heimos, Monica (Tony) Burnett, Maryann (Larry) Morris and Matt (Amber) Franke; her great-nieces and nephews: Gavin and Kieran Burnett and Mia Morris; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by three siblings: Alvin (Pat) Heimos, Ronald (Linda survives) Heimos and Ken Heimos; and a niece: Becky Wagstaff.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Gateway Down Syndrome Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
