Joseph Michael Hardie, 82, of Festus died May 1, 2024, at his home. Mr. Hardie was a senior graphic designer and illustrator for Emerson Electric and worked at JCPenney. He was also a previous Deacon at Affton Presbyterian Church. Throughout Mr. Hardie’s life, he and his wife took in, raised and cared for many children. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved family celebrations and get-togethers. He enjoyed reading, playing, fishing, traveling and exploring with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born July 31, 1941, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Gloria (Backlund) and Alfred Leo Hardie.
He is survived by his wife: Rose Ann (Smith) Hardie; three children: Gloria Anne Hardie of Festus, Kristina Marie (Eric) Allbright of Festus and Michael Steven Hardie of Arnold; three siblings: Eileen “Judy” (Dale) Smith of St. Louis County, Kenneth L. Hardie of Chesterfield and Diana Lynn (Clifford) York of Houston; three grandchildren: Kali, Kyle and Rachel; two great-grandchildren: Mila and Kaiden.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
