James Paul Cowin, 72, of Arnold died Aug. 24, 2025. Mr. Cowin, known to family and friends as Paul, had a lifelong love for music. He played everywhere he could and, in the 70s, recorded two 45 RPM records that were played on KSHE radio. He also was a member of two bands, Freight and Strawberry Sundae. He will be remembered for his musical talent, his love for his daughter and his easy-going spirit. Born March 2, 1953, he was the son of the late James Cowin and Dolores Brown Cowin.
He is survived by a daughter: Jennifer Cowin; a sister: Mary (Gary) Martini; nieces and nephews: Tina (Scott) Anderson, Susan McClenahan and Dilbert (Kodi) Shadowens; and many other family members and friends.
A graveside memorial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City, officiated by Pastor Steve Doss. Arrangements are under the direction of DeClue Funeral Home in Potosi.
