Authorities have identified the 34-year-old Herculaneum woman who died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 13, in a two-vehicle accident in Mapaville as Brittany Chambers.

The Highway Patrol no longer identifies victims of crashes, but the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman today, Jan. 16.

According to the highway patrol, the accident occurred at noon when a 16-year-old Hillsboro boy who was driving a 2005 Ford Escape at the intersection of highways A and Z in Mapaville crossed the centerline and traveled into the path of the 2016 Acura TLX Chambers was driving. She attempted to avoid the Ford by steering to the right, but the front driver’s side of the Ford struck the driver’s side of the Acura.

The Herculaneum woman was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS and taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office. A 4-year-old boy in her vehicle was seriously injured and taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District, the report said.

The 16-year-old driver was moderately injured and taken by the ambulance district to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, the report said.

The Highway Patrol reported all three were wearing seat belts and both vehicles were totaled.
