Jack Patek, 93, of Festus died Jan. 5, 2024, at his home. Mr. Patek retired from Pittsburg Plate Glass in Crystal City. He was a former boxing champion. He enjoyed watching his son’s boxing and visiting the horse races at Fairmount Park. Born Jan. 21, 1930, in Festus, he was the son of the late Rilla and John Patek.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Jacqueline (Partney) Patek.
He is survived by four children: Carla Miller, Jennifer (Jim) Gyurica, Jeffrey (Kerry) Patek and Gregory Patek; five grandchildren: Aaron Gyurica, Sarah Gyurica, Elizabeth Gyurica, Kayla Patek and Erica Patek; two great-grandchildren: Madison and Addison Gyurica; and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Ed Patek; a sister: Helen Arnold; a grandson: Zachary Forshee; and a granddaughter: Jessica Patek.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
