George Henry “Bud” Niehaus, 98, of Homosassa, Fla., formerly of St. Louis, died July 30, 2026. Mr. Niehaus graduated from Cleveland High School in St. Louis. During WWII, he served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946. Following his U.S. Army service, he served for six years as a Navy Aviation Machinist’s Mate Third Class Petty Officer. After his military service, he held a successful career in real estate and later as a contract specialist for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. He was a member of the Meridian No. 2 Masonic Lodge of St. Louis for 66 years. He was a sports enthusiast, especially golf, which he taught to his nephews. He enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball, boating, bowling and spending time with family and friends. Born Aug. 2, 1927, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late George Peter and Ethel Niehaus.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years: Michele “Shelley” Chambers Niehaus; a daughter: Sandy (Rick) Bushey; two grandsons: Matt Bushey and Jake (Sierra) Niehaus; a great-grandson: Marlin Bushey; his mother-in-law: Evelyn Chambers; two sisters-in-law: Mary Gaal and Kim Pauley; two nephews: Kenneth (Samantha) Gaal and Anthony (Rosie) Gaal; a great-nephew: Bentley Gaal; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son: George Gary Niehaus; a daughter-in-law: Lisa Niehaus; a grandson: Kyle Niehaus; a brother-in-law: John Pauley; and other family members.
Military honors and committal prayers are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. Services are under the direction of Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home in Homosassa, Fla.
