Gary M. McCallum, 71, of Herculaneum died Jan. 21, 2026, at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Crystal City. Mr. McCallum was a first-place pool shark and enjoyed fishing, going on walks and hiking. He was a donor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sponsored a child overseas. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his generosity and big heart. Born Nov. 8, 1954, in St. Louis, he was the son of Margaret (Hicks) Phillips and the late Charles McCallum.
He is survived by his fiancee: Bermeta Wall; two daughters: Tonya (Jeremy) Dennis and Falisa (Tyson) Beffa; five grandchildren: Tyler Richardson, Lexi Crane, Taylor Sloan, Kaiden Beffa and Kamryn Beffa; a great-grandchild: Ariel Richardson; a niece: Kennedy (Ethan) Nipper; three nephews: Zack Breakfield, Josh Melton and Lyle (Laura) McCallum; two siblings: Carmen (Robert) Elders and Terry (Judy) McCallum; a great-nephew: Oliver McCallum; and a great-niece: Emmy McCallum.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ruth and Lyle Hicks.
A celebration of life will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Cypress Pointe Cremation.
