Fredrick E. Colberg, 94, formerly of Arnold died Oct. 21, 2025, at his home. Mr. Colberg was the second oldest of six children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and loved staying active at his church. He served in the U.S. Army and earned a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Michigan. He later worked as a cartographer for the U.S. Air Force at the Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace Center, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring in 1986. He was known as a kind and hard-working man with many interests. He enjoyed playing softball, hiking, gardening, hunting, spending time at the gun club, volunteering at church and caring for his dogs. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and being involved in his grandchildren’s lives as they grew up. Born Nov. 20, 1930, in the village of Munger, Mich., he was the son of the late Helen (Schnettler) Colberg and Carl Colberg.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda (Wethington) Colberg, whom he met at work and married in March of 1962.
He is survived by four children: Debra (Scott) Rehmer of Affton, Susan (William) Glore of Tampa, Fla., Stephen (Shannon) Colberg of Ft. Mill, S.C., and Andrew (Mercy) Colberg of Arnold; eight grandchildren: Jacob (Abby) Glore, Joshua Glore, Alynda (Tim) Kusterer, Annabelle Rehmer, Timothy Colberg, Johanna Colberg, Carmalene Colberg and Letitia Colberg; three great-grandchildren: Cage, Jagger and Lydia; and a special friend: Dolores Busch.
He also was preceded in death by a companion: Darlene Mueller.
Visitation is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3517 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold, 63010. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church building fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
