Edith “Pauline” Hopkins, 97, Imperial

Edith “Pauline” Hopkins, 97, of Imperial died Nov. 12, 2024, at her home. Ms. Hopkins retired from Anheuser Busch in St. Louis after working there many years. She was competitive played a “mean game of rummy. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, and her specialties were chicken and dumplings and cherry pie. Born May 27, 1927, in Annapolis, she was the daughter of the late Art and Mildred Ethel Long Toppins. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Clifford Hopkins.

She and her first husband, Willard Adams, had three children: Dr. Terry (Donna) Adams of Des Arc, Diana (Jeff) Blankenship of Imperial and the late Michael Adams.

In addition to her two children, she is survived by a sister: Stella Faye Griggs of St. Louis; seven grandchildren: Todd, Bryan, Dwayne, Brooke, Danielle, Robert and Brandon; and 13 great-grandchildren: Michael, Zachary, Madison, Avery, Griffin, Connor, Samantha, Chance, Klaire, Nic, Kayelyn, Kallie and Chase.

In addition to her son, she was preceded in death by five brothers: Marvin, Norman, Thomas, William, Hollis “Ott” and George Toppins; and two sisters: Norma Weatherholt and Merrill “Maxine” Schmidt.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral services at noon Saturday, Nov. 16, at Cole Family Funeral Home, 210 E. Reynolds St., in Ironton, with the Rev. Brent Reed officiating. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Des Arc. Memorials may be made to the Pink Penguin Project, C/O Kim Cofer, 370 County Road 102, Ironton, 63650. Arrangements are under the direction of Cole Family Funeral Home.
