Charlotte B. Laratta, 90, of De Soto died April 19, 2026, at Hillcrest Care Center. Born March 4, 1936, in rural Hillsboro, Mrs. Laratta was the daughter of the late Earl E. and Lucy A. (Minker) Kite.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Bill Laratta.
She is survived by a daughter: Susan Chandler; a granddaughter: Angela Denman; two great-grandchildren: Wade and Aurora; a sister: Ethel Wilson; three nieces: Stella, Natasha and Niko; great-nieces and nephews: Ricky Jr., Kelly, Jaidyn, Isaiah, Ezra and Isaac; and her great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Joyce Laratta; two sisters: Cora Hamman and Georgetta Thompson; two brothers: Edgar Kite and Luther Kite; a son-in-law: Donald Chandler; three brothers-in-law: David Hamman, Chad “Thorny” Thompson Sr. and Bill Wilson; and a nephew: Chad “Thorny” Thompson Jr.
Visitation is scheduled from 1 p.m. until a funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Burial will be in Luckey Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
