Billy Edward Rector, 77, of Festus died Jan. 22, 2026, in Hillsboro. Mr. Rector retired from Local 36 Union, where he worked for many years as a tinner and sheet metal worker. He was a longtime member of Local 36, the Eagles and the Festus-Crystal City Elks Lodge 1721, where he made many friends and enjoyed laughing and sharing stories with his fellow members. He had a love of playing pitch, watching football, fishing and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his easygoing nature, his loyalty and the love he had for those closest to him. Born July 28, 1948, in Farmington, he was the son of the late Emmett Osborn Rector and Viola Geraldine (Moore) Rector.
He is survived by a son: Jason Rector of St. Louis; two daughters: Denise Huck and Annette Rector, both of Pevely; two brothers: Gary (Linda) Rector of Festus and Terry Rector of Fenton; two sisters: Mary Rector of Festus and Hilda Callahan of Bloomsdale; his grandchildren: Stephanie Grass, Courtney Gegg, Ryan Ochoa, Tristan Huck, Vincent Wittu, Reece Elliott, Gage Wittu Elliot and Jaxson Harper; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Joselyn Rector; and a brother: Darryl Rector.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until a funeral service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. Burial will take place at a later date in Parkview Cemetery in Farmington. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
