
Betty Katherine Courtois, 95, of Festus died Sept. 21, 2024, at Crystal Oaks Skilled Nursing Center in Crystal City. Mrs. Courtois was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, formerly the First Presbyterian Church, in Crystal City. She volunteered at the old Sacred Heart School in Festus, Festus Elementary School and was a member of the PTA. She enjoyed going to yard sales, thrift store shopping, quilting, playing bingo and spending as much time as she could with all her grandchildren. Born Nov. 8, 1928, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Grace (Horine) and W. Riley Dugan.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Vincent A. Courtois.
She is survived by a son: Michael (Etta) Courtois of Festus; five grandchildren: Mike (Nicole) Dutton, Megan (Kurt) Mahue, Darren (Julie) Pappas, Kristen (Harold III) Driemeier and Kevin (Nicole) Courtois; and nine great-grandchildren: Andrew Dutton, Alayna Dutton, Addison Hartenberger, Abby Mahue, Scott Hartenberger, Adlyn Driemeier, Harrison Driemeier, Baylor Pappas and Emerson Pappas.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Cheryl (Joseph survives of Festus) Pappas; three sisters: Edna (the late Edwin) Hawkins, Ruth (the late Earl) Eaves and Pauline (the late Byron) Gebauer; and a brother: Ralph Dugan.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until funeral services at noon today, Sept. 24, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
