Benjamin Joel “BJ” Eberhart, 46, of Delmar, Iowa, died April 22, 2026, in De Soto. Mr. Eberhart attended Delwood Elementary School in Delmar, Iowa, for kindergarten. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Maquoketa, Iowa, where he met his best friend, Dustin Edwards. He participated in Future Farmers of America FFA and Boy Scouts Troop 68. He attended Maquoketa High School for his freshman year. His family then moved to De Soto, where he attended St. Pius X High School in Crystal City. He was known to be mischievous at times, as he enjoyed pulling off a funny prank, especially at school or to his family members. He enjoyed being outdoors and around horses. He went on to work as a car salesman, where he met many people who became friends, including Kevin and Ning Blackwell. He worked as a maintenance man for Golden Management Inc. in Union, where he was known for his strong work ethic and natural ability to fix things. He had a true gift with his hands, whether it was woodworking, repairing equipment or helping a friend in need, he approached tasks with patience, skill and quiet pride. He was most proud of his daughter’s academic achievements and her nursing career. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, sharing stories and lending a helping hand. Born Jan. 20, 1980, in Maquoketa, Iowa, he was the son of Robert E. Eberhart of Delmar, Iowa, and Jacalyn R. (Miller) Eberhart of Delmar, Iowa.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter: Katlynne M. Wurst of Park Hills; a brother: RJ (Erin) Eberhart of O’Fallon, Ill.; a nephew: Jack Eberhart; a niece: Claire Eberhart; a sister: Holly (Jason Elder) Eberhart of Dittmer; his grandmother: Corrine Miller; his dog and best friend: PeeWee; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by three grandparents: Vineda “Tootie” and Bill Eberhart and John Miller.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at noon Thursday, April 30, at Mahn Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Deacon Terry Baldwin. Interment will be in Delmar, Iowa. A celebration of life will take place at a later date in Delmar, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family on Venmo @Erin-Eberhart-2.
