Barbara “Jeanette” O’Dell, 86, of Cedar Hill died April 9, 2026. Mrs. O’Dell enjoyed sewing, painting, crocheting and spending time with family and friends, especially with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her creativity and talents, brilliance, kindness and loving spirit. Born Oct. 19, 1939, in Paragould, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Louise and Cardel Bishop.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years: James E. O’Dell, who died 38 days before her.
She is survived by three children: Brenda L. (Mike) Johnston, James E. (Linda) O’Dell and William J. (Lisa) O’Dell; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by five brothers: Tom, Bud, Johnny, Jackson and Eugene.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-5 p.m. for family and 5-8 p.m. for friends Wednesday, April 15, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
