Michael Lindsey ‘Mike’ O’Bryan, 74, Festus

Michael Lindsey “Mike” O’Bryan, 74, of Festus died Jan. 14, 2024, in St. Louis. Mr. O’Bryan graduated from Hillsboro in 1967. He worked at his father’s store, O’Bryan Music and Jewelry at a young age. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2018. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City. He enjoyed being outdoors, tending his lawn, landscaping, cutting wood, antique cars and spending time with family. He enjoyed playing the guitar, giving lessons and being a part of the church’s praise band. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, unwavering love for family and friends and his wit.

Born June 29, 1949, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Ernestine (Boulicault) O’Bryan Schuppan.

He is survived by his wife: Elaine (Laramore) O’Bryan; a daughter: Erin O’Bryan; a sister: Charlotte MacKay; 12 siblings-in-law: Sissy and Bud Coy, Donnie and Jody Laramore, Raymond and Donna Laramore, Erma and Jim Harrelson, Phyllis and Bill Long, June Laramore, and Janet Laramore; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather: Martin Schuppan; a sister: Janet Hale; his father-in-law: Louie Laramore; his mother-in-law: Alice Laramore; and 10 siblings-in-law: Wayne Hale, Jimmy Laramore, Juanita Laramore, Mary Ann Schroer, Lester Schroer, George Laramore, Johnny Laramore, Sonny Laramore, Melba Jones, and Nunis Jones.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City, 107 N Truman Blvd., in Crystal City. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospital South deGreef Hospice House, 10024 Kennerly Rd., in St. Louis, 63018. Arrangements are under the direction of DeClue Funeral Home in Potosi.
